The season is upon us and I finally have some football to write about with my Top 5 series (go back and check my Top 5 QB rankings). I will follow this up with a top 5 wide receiver ranking before the weekend game between Steelers vs Vikings.
I know everyone has their opinion on the running back rankings going into 2015 but I hope you enjoy my views and hit me up on twitter @TheRookieSeason and discuss who you think should be in the Top 5.
1. Marshawn Lynch, Seattle Seahawks
Beast Mode was by far the most dangerous runner in the NFL last season. Endless highlights of him breaking tackles must be causing some serious nightmares heading into the 2015 season. With the addition of Jimmy Graham, teams will no longer be able to concentrate solely on Lynch in the backfield so he is going to have more opportunities to cause havoc against defences across the league. I can see him exceeding his total of 17 TD's in 2014 this season.
2. Adrian Peterson, Minnesota Vikings
Entering his age 30 season after coming back from a season away for off the field issues. Adrian Peterson is probably the greatest running back of the last 10 years. I think the year away will have helped AP recover from the wear and tear of seasons gone by and he certainly will return with a huge chip on his shoulder to prove the doubters wrong. I don't know if he will ever return to the dizzy heights of a 2k yard mark again but watch out for him this season as he just might surprise us.
3. Le'Veon Bell, Pittsburgh Steelers
I almost feel bad for ranking Bell at #3 on my rankings going into 2015. The only reason he is this low down is because of the 2 game suspension that he is facing for drug issues. I genuinely think he is the best all round running back in the league with plenty of season left in the tank (23 years old at this point). 2215 yards and 11 TD's last season is an amazing feat considering he is such a young player in the league. Look out for him improving or matching those figures from last season as he looks to help Pittsburgh to another playoff appearance in 2015.
4. Jamaal Charles, Kansas City Chiefs
Probably one of the most underrated running backs in the league but consistently (when healthy) performs at such a high level every year. Despite playing injured for a long period of the year, he still managed to break 1000 yards rushing for the 3rd season in a row. His ability to make a huge play is second to none but the only thing holding him back is the Chiefs offence, he has to carry the load due to the lack of receiving talent to help share the responsibility. He still managed 14 TD's despite the injury concerns and if he stays healthy, look for Charles to have an even more productive season this year.
5. Eddie Lacy, Green Bay Packers
Another young RB makes my rankings at #5, Eddie Lacy at 25 is going into his 3rd season with the Packers and has already posted back to back 1000+ yard & 10+ TD seasons. He became a handy weapon in the passing game last year when he registered his first receiving TD's of his NFL career. It certainly helps when you've got the best QB in football handing you the ball or even passing you the ball. Look out for Eddie Lacy to continue his form going into the 2015 season and beyond.
